It’s the holiday season and for some it’s still, “The Most Wonderful Time of the Year”.  For others, it can be really depressing and stressful. In fact, some people are just stressed out whether it’s the holidays or just your average month of the year. I’ve learned that Stress is actually manageable! There are some things that we can do on a consistent basis that will help us eliminate stress in our lives. Here are few practical ways that I’ve found to be very helpful when managing stress.

  1. Put it all in Perspective – If we would just pause and make a list of all the things that we are stressed out about and then write a short piece of advice for a better way that we can think about that situation, it would be amazing how much less stress we would feel just to be thinking about it differently. Remember, there will always be people that have it much worse than you do.
  1. Help Someone Else – I’ve found that when I am the most stressed, that is the time when I need to go serve someone else that is going through the same or worse problems than myself. There is something about serving others that has a way of relieving the stress from your mind and spirit.
  1. Relax and Enjoy Life – It’s hard to fathom how we can relax when some of us are going through some really stressful situations and circumstances. However, you really do need to get plenty of rest, take time for yourself, take a few days off, walk the beach or do something that helps you actually enjoy life. All of our problems will be there when we return.

Rather than allowing stress to overtake you and affect your health, try some of these practical, simple things that will help you relax and feel better about yourself.
