A New Start
As the calendar changes, we remember the celebrations and challenges from last year and anticipate what the New Year will bring. It is said that at the beginning of the year, more gym memberships are sold. The New Year is a time to take stock of your life and try something new.
What needs improvement? What changes can be made? No matter how seemingly insignificant, new habits have the potential to make a difference. Some people find that making a commitment to do something like remembering to make your bed in the morning can start things off right and set the tone for a better day.
Perhaps you can make a commitment to connect with a family member or friend more often.
New Year’s Eve is a time when some people make a commitment to stop smoking or quit drinking. Decisions about more time for working on personal growth and work-life balance can be contemplated at this time. Attending a faith community of believers regularly has been shown to have remarkable effects on health and personal well-being.
Try something new this year. Take up a hobby, attend a class that interests you, or start walking. The New Year is a time when many people begin a daily Bible reading plan that takes them through the Bible in one year.
Life is too short to do nothing and continue life as it was in 2015. Begin something, no matter how small.
If any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new. 2 Corinthians 5:17
