Happy New Year to everyone! I hope the Christmas was wonderful and fun for you. Well another year gone and another year starting. Wow!
In thinking of new things to talk about it hit me when I went to put on my computer glasses. It has amazed me the last few months how many pair of computer glasses we are selling. And rightly so, as they make work on the computer so much easier. So many of us spend so much time on computers now for work and certainly for play or hobbies. The lenses I am wearing are called Digitime from Essilor. They are great as the top part of the lens is good for the computer, so you get a large area to see that computer distance and it’s a very wide area to look at the monitor too. Essilor has wonderful lenses and they have designed the lenses to be customized to have the widest viewing area for the computer at the distance that you normally work at. We need to take the extra measurement to benefit you the most at the distance you work at. Everyone’s computer is at different distances. The bottom portion is for the up close or reading distance. I look at the computer through the top of the lens then look down to read or hit the key on the keyboard. Working great!!
Of course, like many things there are different ways to look after this up-close challenge. We could also use a bifocal system with a definite line doing the same thing as the digitime computer lens. Above the line is the computer distance and below is the reading distance. Or of course we can do just one power throughout the lens focused at whichever distance you require. The down side with this lens is that is will only work at one distance! Meaning that if we make the computer screen clear chances are that the up-close distance is fuzzy. Vice versa if we make the reading clear then the computer is probably a little fuzzy. That’s where the true computer lens option is better and more versatile.
Great news…. You can use them for more than just the computer. Some hobbies are easier with these. Changing a ceiling light bulb too, some plumbing in tight spaces easier too! The list is endless as to what you can use them for. As always if we can help with your vision challenges! Come see us!
