Red Deer Granite and Quartz – Dale Moench

As your Experts® on granite and quartz, we want to cover some of the questions we get asked most frequently by customers. We know granite and quartz countertops are an investment and we want people to have the facts needed to make an informed decision on what’s best for their home and family.

Q: Do granite/quartz countertops stain easily?

A: Most granites are quite stain resistant, however, there are some granites that need sealing in order to help prevent staining. Sealing granite is a simple and infrequent process. We are happy to explain how it’s done, or to provide the service if you don’t feel comfortable doing it yourself.

With quartz, it’s quite stain resistant and sealers are not recommended, however whites and lighter colours do need a little more care and attention.

Q: How does heat affect granite/quartz countertops?

A: Granite is extremely resilient to high temperatures as it is a naturally occurring stone formed under intense heat and pressure.

Quartz manufacturers will not warranty high temperature applications, so it’s always best to be careful with hot pots and pans, and never expose your quartz to open flame.
