The holiday season is here!
Cold weather is the perfect time to enjoy apple pie, but how do you decided which apple is the best to suit your baking needs? There are over 7,500 varieties of apple around the world, so it can be a bit confusing when you’re new to baking! You want to find the apple that will maintain or improve certain qualities throughout the baking process. The best apple for this is usually a Honeycrisp apple, as it will maintain its crisp texture and give both a sweet & tart flavour to the pie! An interesting alternative can be to try either a Granny Smith, which will remain very crisp and taste quite tart, or try a McIntosh apple which will give you a very soft filling but taste very sweet. Don’t be afraid to experiment with different varieties for different tastes and textures!
